Paving Cleaning in Perth & WA

Paths, pool surrounds and courtyards go grey and green faster than anything else on a property. Cleaning paving properly means dealing with the joints and the efflorescence, not just the surface.

What Our Paving Cleaning Includes

Paving is a jointed surface, and that is what makes it different from a slab. The dirt, weeds and moss live in the joints, and blasting them out without re-sanding afterwards leaves the pavers loose and moving. We handle the whole system.

How the Job Runs

Paving looks like a simple job and often is not. The material and the joint condition decide the entire approach.

1. Identify the paver

Limestone, clay brick, concrete paver, travertine and reconstituted stone all take different pressure. Getting this wrong is how paving gets permanently pitted.

2. Clear the joints

Weeds, grass and moss removed from joints first. Cleaning the surface while the joints are still full just redeposits the mess as soon as it rains.

3. Clean & treat

Surface cleaned evenly, with black spot and efflorescence treated chemically rather than driven off with brute pressure.

4. Re-sand & finish

Where joint sand has washed out, we replace it so the pavers stay locked and stable. Full rinse, then photos through to you.

What It Costs

Paving is quoted by area, material and joint condition. The joints are usually what makes a paving job long rather than the surface itself.

Efflorescence is worth a specific mention. That white powdery bloom is salt migrating out of the paver or the bedding sand, and it is not dirt — pressure alone will not shift it and it will keep returning until the moisture source settles. We treat it, but we will also tell you honestly if yours is likely to come back.

Why Paving Deteriorates Faster Than You Expect

Jointed paving has more ways to fail than a poured slab, and most of them start out of sight.

Joints wash out

Every rain event and every careless pressure clean removes a little joint sand. Once the joints are empty the pavers start rocking, edges chip, and the surface becomes uneven underfoot.

Roots lift pavers

Weeds in a joint are not just untidy. Established roots exert real force and will lift and tilt individual pavers, which then become trip hazards and let more water into the base.

Pool surrounds get slippery

Algae on a wet pool surround is one of the more genuinely dangerous surfaces around a house. Regular cleaning is a safety measure there, not a cosmetic one.

Paving Cleaning FAQs

Done carelessly with a narrow jet held close, yes — and that is a common complaint after a cheap job. We work at controlled pressure and we quote joint sand replacement where it is needed rather than leaving you with loose pavers.

Yes, and it is very common in WA. Limestone is soft, porous and easily damaged, so it gets low pressure and a treatment-led approach. Anyone offering to blast your limestone is about to ruin it.

Efflorescence — mineral salts migrating to the surface as moisture moves through the paver. It is not surface dirt and it will not simply wash off. We treat it chemically, though on new paving it often keeps recurring for the first year or two until it exhausts itself.

Yes, though it is the most stubborn thing on paving. Those hard black dots are lichen anchored into the surface. They need a proper treatment and time to work, and heavily established black spot sometimes needs a second application.

Yes. We take particular care to control run-off away from the pool and to avoid getting treatment into the water. Tell us at booking that there is a pool so we can plan the drainage.

They will return towards their original colour, which after years of grime can be a surprise. Occasionally a paver that has faded unevenly under a pot plant or furniture leg will still show a patch after cleaning.

Every one to two years for most Perth properties. Shaded paths and pool surrounds go green faster and often want an annual clean. Open, sunny paving can go longer.

We assess the joints and quote it where it is needed rather than charging everyone for it. If your joints are full and stable, you do not need it and we will not sell it to you.
