What Our Driveway Cleaning Includes

A driveway clean that is just a quick pass with a wand leaves stripes and misses the stains that actually bother you. We use a rotary surface cleaner for even coverage, then treat the specific marks by hand before the final rinse.

How the Job Runs

Different driveway surfaces take very different pressures. We identify what yours is before we start, not after we have marked it.

1. Surface assessment

Exposed aggregate, plain concrete, brick paver, limestone and stencilled concrete each need a different approach and pressure. We identify yours and quote on area and staining.

2. Clear & pre-treat

Loose debris swept, vehicles moved clear, and oil patches given time to break down with a targeted degreaser before the main clean.

3. Surface clean

Rotary cleaner across the main area for even coverage, then hand work into edges, borders and anywhere the rotary cannot reach.

4. Rinse & finish

Full rinse, run-off directed away from garden beds, site left tidy and photos sent through.

What It Costs

Driveways are quoted on area and condition. A regularly maintained driveway is a straightforward job; one with fifteen years of oil and moss takes considerably longer.

Be wary of anyone quoting a flat per-square-metre rate sight unseen. The area is the easy part — it is the staining that determines how long the job actually takes, and a fixed quote should account for it.

What a Dirty Driveway Is Actually Doing

Beyond appearance, the build-up on a neglected driveway causes problems that get more expensive the longer they are left.

Slip hazard

Algae and moss on concrete become genuinely slippery when wet. On a sloped driveway or a shaded path down the side of the house, that is a real risk, particularly for older residents.

Surface breakdown

Weeds and moss growing in joints and hairline cracks force them wider. Water gets in, and in the cycle of wet winters and hot summers the cracking accelerates.

Permanent staining

Oil left on porous concrete keeps soaking deeper. Cleaned early it lifts almost completely; left for years it becomes a shadow that no amount of pressure will fully remove.

Driveway Cleaning FAQs

Not at the right pressure with the right equipment. Damage happens when someone holds a narrow-jet wand too close and etches lines into the surface. A rotary surface cleaner spreads the pressure evenly, which is why we use one on open areas rather than free-handing a wand.

Usually we get a very substantial improvement, and often complete removal on fresh or moderate stains. Old oil that has been soaking into porous concrete for years leaves a shadow. We will give you an honest expectation at quote stage rather than promise a miracle.

Bore water rust is extremely common in Perth and it needs a specific rust treatment, not just pressure. We treat it chemically. Deep, long-standing bore staining sometimes needs more than one application.

Yes, with reduced pressure. Exposed aggregate has stones held in a cement matrix, and too much pressure strips that matrix and loosens the stones. It is a slower job done properly.

Sealing helps on porous concrete and exposed aggregate — it slows oil penetration and makes future cleans easier. It is not essential. If you want it, we quote it separately, and it has to go on completely dry, so it is a second visit.

In Perth summer, an hour or two. In winter, allow most of a day before parking on it, longer in shaded areas. If we have sealed it, keep vehicles off for a full 24 hours.

Yes, and anything else on the driveway — bins, pot plants, trailers. We need clear access to the whole surface. If you will not be home, just leave it clear before you go.

The visible growth goes and the joints are cleared, but cleaning is not a herbicide treatment. Seeds in joints will germinate again in the next wet season. Annual cleaning keeps on top of it.

A driveway clean uses a meaningful amount of water, and we work within Water Corporation guidelines. We direct run-off to garden beds rather than straight to stormwater where the site allows it.
